Obituary for Louise Elizabeth Kempe

Louise Elizabeth  Kempe
Pisgah Forest - Louise Gwin Clarke Kempe, 69, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014. She was the daughter of the late H. E. and Elizabeth Stone Gwin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ludwig G. Kempe.

Louise was raised in Durham, NC. Following her debut at the Debutante Cotillion and Christmas Ball, she attended and graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, VA. She later moved to Charleston, SC then moved to Brevard where she spent the remainder of her life.

Louise had a passion for nature and a love of gardening.

She is survived by her first husband, Lt. Col. Richard R. Clarke (ret. Army)of Mount Pleasant, SC, children; Caroline, Christopher, and Curtis and six grandchildren; Robbie, Ryan, Mary Catherine, Jordon, Sammy and Matthew.

The family of Louise Gwin Clarke Kempe would like to give a special thanks to the Nurses and CNA’s of the Oaks of Brevard. In addition, further gratitude goes to the entire staff of Tores Home for their compassion and relentless love and care for their residents especially during the end of life.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
