Obituary for William Aldor Daviau
William A. Daviau died on May 7, 2015 in Houston, Texas following complications from diabetes.
Born on April 2, 1949 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Al and Margaret Daviau of South Hadley, Mass., Bill was burned by a fire as a child and dedicated much of his life to saving others from the same fate.
He was instrumental in inventing the product and passing a bill through Congress during the 1970’s for the requirement of fire retardant nightwear for children, as well as creating various types of caulk for use in studs during construction to delay or prevent fires from moving from one room to another.
Bill also worked in the cellulose business and wrote a newspaper for a time for members of the construction industry. He was the official salesman to the United States for the technologies of the Academy of Science in Moscow, Russia in the early 1990’s.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and one son, Matthew. Survivors include his two children, William J. Daviau of Estill, SC and Amanda J. Daviau of Bellingham, WA; his wife, Jeanmarie Doel of Houston, Texas and Brevard, NC; his sisters, Peggy Ann Sloan of Enfield, CT and Sharon Morsbach of Delaware, as well as many beloved cousins and other relatives.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM.
