Obituary for Mary Patricia Tangney (Jay)

Mary Patricia Tangney (Jay)
Mary Patricia Jarvis Tangney, 83, of Etowah, NC, passed away June 13,
2016 at her daughter's home with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Decatur, IL, on March 18th 1933. Surviving Mary is
her daughter, Rebecca Ellis, son-in-law Daniel Ellis (which she claimed
as her very own son), grandson Andrew Ellis and granddaughter, Kate
Ellis, all of Brevard, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother Ferol
Jay, husband William R. Jarvis, husband William Tangney, son William
"Billy" Jarvis, grandson William Ellis, grandson Daniel "Danny" Ellis and
step-daughter Kathy Tangney.

Mary was nurturing and positive, always enjoying good times with
friends and family. She was supportive, loyal and showed
unconditional love to her family and her friends. Every occasion
became special with her bubbly and beautiful presence. She was a
wonderful mother and she adored her grandchildren and the feeling
was mutual. Mary was a hard worker, especially for causes she believed
in; for example, she started the United Cerebral Palsy chapter in Macon
County, Illinois and she was chairwoman and president of the chapter
of the National Federation of Democratic Women there. She loved a
good game of Mah Jongg and bridge and was a member of the same
bridge club for 42 years. She loved people, and embraced life with open
arms. Her faith in God was unwavering and inspiringly courageous
throughout the most difficult and tragic times In her life. She was, and
always will be, an Inspiration to her family.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 26th, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the
Etowah Presbyterian Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
