Rev. Charles "Pete" Dodson
Rosman – Rev. Charles “Pete” Dodson, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday. August 13, 2016.
Born in Rosman, NC to the late John W. and Delia Ann Galloway Dodson, he was the husband of the late Lela Aiken Dodson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Newman, granddaughter, Lori Dodson, great-grandson, Kaden Dodson, sons-in-law, John Arnette and Harold Newman, nine brothers and one sister.
Rev. Dodson was a member of Selica Worship Center which he pastored until age 93. He also pastored many churches in North and South Carolina. Rev. Dodson was an avid gardener and he enjoyed sitting on his front porch and waving at people driving down the road. People loved hearing is family stories. Rev. Dodson was retired from M-B Industries and he worked at Winn Dixie after his retirement.
Survivors include his sons, Rev. Ron Dodson and wife Della of Weaverville, and Ross Dodson and wife Delores of Brevard; daughters, Wilda Brooks and husband Cecil of Franklin, and Hilda Arnette of Rosman; sister, Beulah Raxter of Rosman; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Open Arms Tabernacle, Brevard, NC. Burial will follow in G. W. Whitmire Cemetery, Rosman.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
