Obituary for Douglas William Barton

Douglas William Barton, 72, of Cedar Mountain went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 12, 2016 after having Parkinson's Disease for 12 years.
He was born on February 6,1944. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Lucy Barton.
Doug was a hard working man that built his home in Cedar Mtn. He retired from Dupont after 28 years and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Doug loved spending time with his family, deer hunting on his mountain property in Cedar Mtn., enjoyed hiking the trails at Dupont Forest, blueberry picking at Shining Rock, and tinkering with automobiles. Doug was always able to figure out how to fix anything.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Hilda Thomas Barton; his son, Tim of Cedar Mtn.; his daughter Teresa Chamlee and her husband Ken of Mills River, NC and their children Shane, Jenny and Casey Whitmire, and Andrew Chamlee; his daughter Tina Moore and her husband Dan of Huntersville, NC and their son Danny; great-grandchild Damian Whitmire; brothers Jimmy, Charles and his wife Cheryl, Bill and his wife Sharon; and sisters Elaine Hunter and her husband Kent, Phyllis Owen and her husband Ted, and Jean Snipes (who was preceded in death by her husband Danny).
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Roger Smith and Ted Owen at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
