Ruth King Reid
March 25, 1929 - December 28, 2016

Ruth King Reid, 87 of Brevard died peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Wednesday, December 28th at Sunny Brook Assisted Living in Hendersonville, NC. She was a native of Yancey County, and resided in Transylvania County since 1946. She was the daughter of the late Jerry M. King and Kitty Shepherd King and the wife of the late J.T. Reid who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by one sister Ruby K. Johnson, two brothers, Robert D. King and Roy W. King, and niece, Mary King Spiller.
Ruth was an active member of Enon Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk for 28 years. She was employed by Ecusta/Olin for 39 years prior to retirement in 1985. She was selfless, kind, and always devoted to her family, church, and friends. Ruth survived a number of health concerns over the years but remained independent and fought cancer bravely. She loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for many.
She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Ronnie K. Reid and wife Angie of Hendersonville, and Scott B. Reid and wife Amie of Apex, NC; her grandchildren, Meghan Ruth & Daniel Keith, Anna Marie & John Thomas, and Morgan, Madison, Lilly and Lexi; six nieces, Ilena K. Drum, Elizabeth K. Brady, Sherry F. Fisher, Sheila B. Tucker, Lucille K. Wolgast and Lynette K. Regnaert; two sisters in law, Mabel Jo King, and Verna R. Smith.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, Dec 31, 2016 and funeral following at 2:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, NC with Rev. Tommy Madden and Rev. Michael Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church P.O. Box 669 Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
