Obituary for Hoyt Thurman Galloway

Brevard – Hoyt Thurman Galloway, 88, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017.

He was the son of the late Alga and Cumile Owen Galloway. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Eldon and Kenneth Galloway and sister; Thelma Owen.

Mr. Galloway, formerly of Hendersonville, proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed for many years by Dupont where he retired in 1985.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years Joyce Danielson Galloway, son; Mark Galloway of Seymore, TN, daughters; Sharon Humphreys and husband Vic of Atlanta, GA, Elaine Canipe and husband Joe of Lincolnton, NC and Joy Osburn of Hendersonville, brothers; L.C. “Shorty” Galloway and wife Mildred of Brevard and Bert Galloway and wife Mary of Washington State, sisters; Wilma Galloway of Brevard, Velma Lou Baynard of Brevard and Elwyn Lance of Brevard, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The Galloway family would like to give a sincere thank you to the WNC Baptist Retirement Home staff for the love and dedication to the family during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the WNC Baptist Retirement Home, 213 Richmond Hill Dr, Asheville, NC 28806.
