Obituary for Billie Sue Smelcer (Duffie)
Rosman – Billie Duffie Smelcer, 81, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
Born March 11, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James and Lottie George Duffie and was the forth of eleven children.
She married the late George Smelcer in 1955 and raised six children but many more called her “mom” and “granny”. She was a loving wife and mother and opened her heart to care for many through the years.
She is survived by her sisters; Barbara J. Lipps, Shirley Walker, Joyce Joiner and Carol Hanner all of Alabama and children; Judy Bolin, Teresa Francis (Tim), Donna Henderson(Wayne) and James Smelcer (Carrie) ; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care Partners Hospice of Transylvania County, 1266 Asheville Hwy #5, Brevard, NC 28712.
Graveside services will be held 2pm, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Hills Union Cemetery in Dandridge, TN.
