James Michael Furgerson "Mikey", 29, of Sapphire, NC was born Oct. 1, 1987 in Brevard N.C.
He left behind many that loved and cared for him on April 15,2017. Mikey was a very loving kind hearted young man who would help anyone in need. He was a very responsible, level headed, and hardworking young man. He had a spontaneous nature about him when he was free to show it. He loved riding his four wheeler and hot rodding in a 68 Ford truck that him and father had built together. He was a very adventurous person that was up for all types of fun. He enjoyed his line of work as a heavy equipment operator and was talented and humble enough to learn the wisdom and advice of older co-workers. He was also talented in many other trades and skills but also could take a moment to stop and enjoy the beauty of Gods’ work in nature as well.
Mikey is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Louise Furgerson Kelly of Evarts, KY, his maternal grandfather, Robert Clarence Franks "Papa" of Pickens S.C.
He leaves behind his mother and father William "Willy" and Sandra Furgerson of Sapphire, NC; two siblings whom he loved very much, Joshua Thomas of Pisgah Forest NC and Wendy Thomas of See Off Mountain, Brevard NC.
He is also survived by his Maternal Grandmother, Martha Franks Turner "Nanny", his aunt Shelia Queen, aunt, Renà Ayers(Doug), aunt, Tracey Ball, uncle Richard Franks, aunt, Lisa Davis (Glen), aunt Cheryl Fox (Jim), aunt Teresa Shireman. Also, many other cousins and friends who loved and adored him very much.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Montvale-Whitewater Cemetery in Sapphire.
