Obituary for Spencer Jack Mathis

Brevard – Spencer Jack Mathis, 53, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Floyd Benjamin Mathis and Gaynell Shook Mathis. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Holly Reems, Jo Simpson, Rhonda Smith, and Sandra McCall.
Mr. Mathis attended Open Arms Tabernacle. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his sisters, Linda Heatherly of Brevard and Rita Johnson of Marietta, SC; brothers, Randy Mathis and wife Juanita of Mills River and Anthony Mathis of Brevard; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Open Arms Tabernacle. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rock Bridge Cemetery in Jackson County.
Memorial donations to the family may be made at United Community Bank.
