Obituary for Lillian Estelle Chapman (Dodgin)

Lillian Dodgin Chapman of the Quebec Community was called to her eternal home on June 5, 2017. She was born May 13, 1918 in the Quebec Community of Transylvania County, NC. She was one of three girls born to James Perry Dodgin and Beulah Arlesa Miller. She married Medford Chapman on Aug. 3, 1935 in Pickens, SC. Lillian and Medford had ten children, eight of whom survive her. She had lived in the Quebec Community all but two years of her life. Medford died in Sept. 1986.
Her parents, Jim and Lesa, husband, Medford, two children, Lester and Jerry, four grandchildren, Anita C. Rhodes, Michael Chapman, Jeremiah Chapman and Seth Whitmire, one great grandchild, Max Whitmire and two sisters, Opal D. Whitmire and Mary Jane Dodgin predeceased her.
Surviving her are eight children and their spouses: James and wife, Hazel, Lawrence and wife, Linda, Charles, Carl and wife, Glenda, Myrtle and husband, Bill McNeely, Margaret and husband, Tom Dills, Mabel and husband, Farrell Parker and Gary and wife, Evelyn. Two daughters-in-law, Jeanette Chapman and Thyra Chapman, 23 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 12 great greatgrandchildren also survive.
Lillian truly loved her family, friends and Church family. She was loved by all that knew her. She was a strong Christian woman, an inspiration and role model to all. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service is planned for Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 3:30 pm at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Kim Miller Road in the Quebec Community. Lillian was of the Baptist faith and she was a member of this church for 85+ years. Pastor Alan Murray will officiate.
