Obituary for Michael Richard Fisher

Michael Richard Fisher
Michael Richard Fisher, 66, of Brevard, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2017 at The Oaks of Brevard.

Born August 4, 1950, Mike was the son of the late Russell and Emily Hinkle Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Cranford, Lucy Rogers, Margaret Whitmire, Esther Ramsey, Phyllis Moss, and Lisa Lunsford; brothers, Joseph, RH, David, and Phillip Fisher.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Paula Fisher of Brevard, N.C., Tonya Chalker (Jimmy) of Pickens, S.C., and Kimberly Roach (John) of Pickens, S.C., two sisters, Sandra Chapman (Allen) of Rosman, N.C., and Deborah Fisher of Hendersonville, N.C., one brother, James (Sherry)Fisher of Rosman, N.C., many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mike spent his working years as a chef in Sapphire and in Highlands. One of his greatest joys in life was fishing. Mike is probably sitting on a creek bank right now reeling in speckled trout and cracking jokes with his brothers and sisters. He spent the last few years of his life charming his “ladies” (his nurses) at The Oaks. Mike always had a smile on his face no matter how good or bad he felt. His smile would light up a room. He loved to play bingo, and always seemed to win a game every time he played. He was fondly referred to as the “Bingo Boss” at The Oaks. No matter what challenges he was facing, he always said he was “fine as a frog hair, twisted twice.” No one who met Mike could resist his charm and always left with either a good laugh or a big smile on their face. His charm, his smile, and the love he shared with everyone he encountered will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Chappell officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.
