Maria “Mary” Alves

Maria "Mary" Alves, 85, a resident of Brevard, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Mary was the daughter of the late Leonardo and Rosario Castiglione of San Diego, California. Her parents were both born in Trapani, Sicily and immigrated to the U.S. in 1930. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother John Castiglione and a grandson Michael Frank Duckworth. Mary graduated from San Diego High School in 1950 where she met the love of her life Joseph "Joe" Alves. Mary retired from a career working with the U.S. Navy in Point Loma California at the Naval Research Library.

Mary is survived by her companion in marriage of 67 years Joe Alves. Her surviving children are Elizabeth an husband Matthew Sundstrom of Georgia and Rosemary and Frank Duckworth of Brevard along with four grandchildren and her special little people Ellie and Will, Sophia and Jameson, Gwendolyn and Zinnia her great-grandchildren.

Mary had many wonderful friends in Brevard. A service of remembrance will be scheduled for November 11, 2017 at 11:00am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard where she attended services for the last fifteen years. On-line condolences may be left at http://www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com
