Obituary for L. Dawn Allen (Allen)
Dr. L. Dawn Allen, 63, formerly of Brevard, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Edgar and Mary Alice Tinsley Allen.
Dr. Allen was born in Stuttgart, West Germany. She graduated from Brevard High School in 1971. UNC-G with a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude in 1975, Western Michigan University with a Master of Arts in 1978 and Florida State University with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1983. She was a member of the NC State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists in 1985. She worked at Earth Mark Consultants Inc. since 2005. Dawn was an avid collector of old book, particularly children’s books. She also enjoyed poking around in the flea markets and garage sales.
Survivors include her brother Bill Allen and wife Linda of Waxhaw, NC. She also leaves behind the 3 loves of her life, her dogs, Maggie, Lilly and Bliss.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Petit Bassett Griffon Vandeen Club of America and PBGV Health and Rescue Foundation at www.pbgv.org.
Graveside Services will be held 2pm, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery.
