Obituary for John Edward "Jack" Williams

John E. “Jack” Williams of Pisgah Forest died on October 21 after celebrating his 100th birthday on September 22.
He grew up in Alberta, VA and attended North Carolina State University before serving with the U.S. Army Air Force in Europe during World War II. After working in various retail positions, he worked at the Ecusta Paper Mill, from which he retired in 1983 after 33 years of service.
Jack is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Hines Williams, his two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Meg and Paul and Laura, his grandchildren, Nick, Sam, Jack, and Grace, and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at the English Chapel, Route 276 in Pisgah Forest, on Wednesday, November 1, at 11:00 AM with the family greeting friends at the church an hour before. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sharing House (Transylvania Christian Ministries, Inc.).
