Obituary for Annie Sue Maness (Galloway)

Annie Sue  Maness (Galloway)
Annie Sue Galloway Maness (83) went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2017. A native of Transylvania County, she was born on New Years Day 1934 to Carl and Ida Owen Galloway. She graduated in 1955 from Memorial Mission Hospital's nursing program as a Mission Belle. Her nursing career included working as a surgical nurse in the operating room and assisting in the opening of an extended care unit at Transylvania Community Hospital; she also worked for the Transylvania County Health Department, VA, Ecusta Medical Center and Pardee Hospital. Aside from her devoted career in nursing, she was also a loving mother to her five children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her love of sunrises & sunsets, daffodils, and the Lord will forever be remembered by her family.

She is survived by her children Debbie (Danny) Devine, Denise (Ken) Zeegers, Carlos Maness, Kim (Steve) Dunn, and Pete (Rena) Maness; her grandchildren Dyane (Pete) De La Vega, Chris (Whitney) Maness, Carl Maness, Alyse (Hunter) Cannaday, Petey Maness, Patrick Dunn, Nicholas Zeegers, and Marshall Zeegers, and great-grandchildren Claire, Pete, and Evelyn De La Vega, Kai Maness, and Isla Cannaday. She is also survived by sisters Sylvia (John) McCrary, Shirley (Calvin) Tinsley, Patricia Hampton, and numerous treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceeded in death by her brothers, Bill Galloway, Ivan Galloway, and Clyde Galloway, and her sisters, Delphine Donnelly, Christine Wilson, Ethel Poole, Phylliss Constantine, Brenda Spillman, and Brona Dunn.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on November 28, 2017 at 6 pm at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church in Brevard, North Carolina. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:30-5:30pm.
