Lake Toxaway - Laura Mae Raxter Green passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 27, 2018 at 11:44am.
She was the baby daughter of the late Perry Elzie and Reba McGaha Raxter. She was born in Brevard and lived her childhood on a dairy farm on the banks of the French Broad River. There, she and her niece were known to throw cow patties at the canoers passing downstream or seen riding on the back of her mom’s pickup truck. Life was an experience and she hit it head on. She was fearless and memorable with her feisty personality in her little red convertible.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, her parents, husband, Donald Green, one life partner, Donald Boland, three brothers, Alvin, Calvin and Condon Raxter, six sisters, Alma Raxter, Agnes Henderson, Clara Surrette, Maude Vaughn, Margaret Orr and Nadine Ashe.
She is survived by four children, Kim Chappell and husband, Tony Harrell, Lori Vaughan and husband Joe, Monty Burrell and wife, Juanelle and Hettie Lance and husband, Eddie; three brothers, Perry, Preston and Walter Raxter; one sister, Geraldine Paxton; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who loved their Mamaw Bam Bam.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 31st at 6pm at Moody-Connolly Life Celebrations, 181 S. Caldwell St., Brevard, NC. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your favorite charity in her name.
