He retired from Ecusta paper mill in 1998 after 41 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching races but above all he loved time spent with family.
Survivors include his wife Dorinda; daughters, Dawn Ingram (Randy), Denise (Phil) Greer, and Diane (David) Cothran; adopted daughter, Bistra Hristova; grandchildren, Matthew Mann, Julian (Cheri) Chaves, Tyler (Annie) Greer, Jordan Greer, and Katie Cothran; great-grandchildren, Julie Chaves and Emma Greer; brothers, Ted (Carolyn), Ronnie (Nancy), Larry (Betty), Steve (Linda); sister, Deb (Spud) Ayers; in-laws, Phyllis Owen, Bill Davis, Evelyn Owen; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet Sophie.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, 805 Capps Rd., Pisgah Forest with Rev. Jason Kittrell officiating. The family will greet friends for a viewing at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
