Obituary for John Thomas Garren

John Thomas Garren
John Thomas Garren, 70, of West Union, SC, formerly of Brevard, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2018.
Born June 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Henry Edgar Garren Jr, and Mattie Redden Garren.
John proudly served in the U. S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic during the Vietnam War. He retired from Agfa where he had been employed as a master mechanic. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. John also served as the Commander of VFW post #4309 and American Legion post #88 in Brevard. He was the best son a father could ask for and a wonderful husband. Some of the things he enjoyed was deer hunting, snow skiing, and especially barefoot water skiing. John also enjoyed relaxing on the front deck of their lake home on Lake Keowee listening to ‘Oldies’ and enjoying the night skies.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda Mulenex Garren, sister Patricia McCrary and her husband Tommy of Brevard.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held 2:30 pm, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military honors provided by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N Michigan Ave floor #17, Chicago, IL 60601.
