Obituary for Sarah Rhuemma Miller (Carter)

Sarah Rhuemma Miller (Carter)
Sarah Rhuemma Miller, 79, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.
She was born on November 1, 1938 to the late Valry and Allie Belle Townsend Carter. She was and will always be beloved mother to all and grandmother to one Emma Belle Suddeth.
Born, raised, and thrived most of her wonderful lifetime in Transylvania County, North Carolina. Rhuemma, or Rhue as she was known to most, achieved the position of full professor of English at Brevard College until her retirement in 2001. She was introduced to many in Brevard via her teaching at Brevard High. Rhue accomplished and embodied several degrees in the liberal arts, including an associate degree at Mars Hill in 1958, Bachelor’s degree at Furman in 1960, Master’s degree at Appalachian State in 1963, and eighteen hours toward her doctorate at the University of South Carolina.
Most importantly, Rhue was known for her kind and generous spirit. She was known to write poetry for friends and family on special occasions. Sprinkle a little scotch on her and you had the ear of an earthbound angel. Now, all who knew and experienced her caring embrace, have an ally on the other side.
Survivors include her only child, Kristina Rhuemma Suddeth, son-in-law, Chris (Sutty) Suddeth and granddaughter, Emma Belle (E.B.) of Fripp Island, SC.
Much can be said about her matronly spirit that cradled all she touched, but the following quote by one of her favorite authors, Kahlil Gibran, sums her up:
“When you part from your friend, you grieve not. For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.”
Special thanks to Shirley’s Angels Crystal McCall and Ann Whitmire without them and their delicate, caring natures her last wishes would not have come true.
Graveside services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
Memorial gifts can be made in her honor to Care Partners Hospice of Brevard www.carepartnersfoundation.org or to the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center online at http://donate.scaquarium.org/donate.
