Vernon Alfred Bishop, 76, of Lake Toxaway, passed away on June 1, 2018. He was born on August 1, 1941 in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Barzy and Essie Anderson Bishop. He was a 1960 graduate of Big Creek High School in War, West Virginia. He was employed by Haywood Electric EMC and Liberty Life and also served a term on the Transylvania County Board of Education.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; two children, Bonnie (Russell) Caver and Joey (Deena) Bishop; three step-children, Melody (James) Bishop, David and Brian (Doria) Owen; seven grandchildren, Landry and Hogan Caver, Ella Bishop, Nicholas Bishop, David, Jon and Alexandra Owen; two brothers, Herman (Carmen) and Thomas (Connie) Bishop. He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home, Brevard, NC, on Thursday, June 7, 2018. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Toxaway Fire Rescue, Inc, P O Box 35, Lake Toxaway, NC 28747.
