Mary Helen Picklesimer, 95, of the Little River Community died Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Tore's Home in Brevard, where she had received care since March. Helen lived by herself until December of 2017 when she was hospitalized at Transylvania Regional Hospital then had rehabilitation at The Oaks.
Helen was the daughter of the late Arthur Picklesimer and Nell Hamilton Picklesimer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Picklesimer, as well as her grandparents, fifteen aunts and uncles, and thirteen first cousins.
Survivors include twelve first cousins, cousins to the fourth generation, a host of former students who remember her lovingly and many loyal friends.
For thirty-six years she taught students in elementary grades in the Oak Ridge, Tennessee school system.
She graduated from Brevard High School, Brevard (Junior) College, Western Carolina University ( Teachers College). She completed graduate study at UNC, Chapel Hill.
Through the years, she was part of Little River Baptist Church, Holly Springs Baptist Church, Brevard First Baptist Church and Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery.
