Obituary for Ernest William Henderson
Ernest William Henderson, age 45 of Ocean Springs, MS formerly of Brevard, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in San Diego, CA.
He was the son of Carolyn O’Shields VanGilder of Pisgah Forest and the late Thomas Calhoun Henderson. In addition to his father he also was preceded in death by his infant son, Eric Henderson and his brother, Joshua O’Shields.
Ernest proudly served his country in the US Navy for 15 years. Ernest loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always the jokester of the group and provided many laughs, memories, and much enjoyment for all around him. He was well loved and was known for spending his time outdoors for just about everything. Be it riding motorcycles, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, or just hanging out in the garage with everyone. Ernest and his presence is a great loss to all and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Christine Lumpkin Henderson of Ocean Springs, MS; son, Orrin Henderson of Fort Benning, GA, three daughters, Aubrey Henderson of Florence, SC, Ashley Chance and her son, Chase Jessen of Morgantown, WV and Bethany Henderson of Ocean Springs, MS; three sisters, Kelly Jenkins and spouse Mike Jenkins of Rosman, Francisca Velazquez of Arden and Maria Henderson of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Life Celebrations. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission22 at Mission22.com.
