Obituary for James Lloyd Norman

Brevard – James Lloyd Norman, 91, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017.
Born in Sylva, NC, he was the son of the late Sam and Mell Norman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carrie J. Norman, as well as brothers, Robert Norman, Clyde Norman, Allen Norman, Ray Norman, and sisters, Virgie Queen, Ruby Norman, Mary Hilda Norman.
Mr. Norman was an US Army veteran of WW II, serving as a MP in India and the Mariana Islands in the Pacific. He lived and worked for many years in Jackson and Haywood County before moving to Brevard in 1969. In Brevard, he was the manager of Freeman Gas Company. Mr. Norman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brevard.
Survivors include his sons, Roger Norman and wife Kathy of Brevard, Rick Norman and wife Tracey of Greensboro; daughters, Kathy Norman of Black Mtn., Jackie Green and husband Bobby of Brevard; six grandchildren, Davey and Darrell Green, Carrie Norman, Andy Norman, Tess and Baxter Norman; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Green, Jackson and Hayes Green, Zeb, Silas and Ellie Norman; sisters-in-law, Ruth Norman, Hattalean Norman, Amy Hoyle; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM Monday, February 27, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
