Betty Powell, age 79, passed away peacefully at The Oaks of Brevard on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
She was born March 4, 1938 in Rosman to William Glenn and Mary Emmalee Galloway and was married to her husband of thirty years, Walter Mire Powell.
Betty leaves behind three sons, Billy Powell and his wife Bobbi, Karl Powell and a close family friend Shirley Young, and Tony Powell; two daughters, Sharon Owen and husband Keith, and Susan T. Powell and a close family friend Christine Willingham; grandchildren, Ashley Owen Poplin and her husband Sam, Nicole Owen, Keith D. Owen, Jr. and his wife Elise, Benjamin Powell and his wife Naomi; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Jacob Poplin; brother, Bill Galloway and his wife Linda; sisters, Edith McCall and close friend Dayton Burchfield, Delores Chadwick; an array of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Diann Owen. She fellowshipped when she was able at several of the local churches including East Fork Baptist, Middle Fork Baptist, and Glady Branch. Baptist.
Betty was an artist. She loved to draw and she was well known for her handmade quilts. Betty was sassy yet sweet and always full of spunk right up until God called her home. May she rest in peace.
The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Friday, September 8, 2017 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
