Obituary for Geraldine Evon Gash (Gash)

Geraldine Evon Gash of Brevard, NC passed away Friday October 27, 2017.

A native of Transylvania County, Geraldine lived in New York and New Jersey before returning to Brevard.

She was the daughter of the late Randall and Anna Gash. She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters Bill Gash, Russell Gash, Marvin(Mack) Gash, Charles Gash , Florence Floyd, Alice Gash, Betty Gash and Annie Mae Smith; and four nephews James Gash, Charles Calvin Gash, Ricky Gash and Terry Arrington.

Geraldine graduated from Ninth Avenue High School in Hendersonville, NC, attended Johnson C. Smith College in Charlotte, and graduated from Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey with a BSW degree in Social Work. She was employed by Spofford Detention Juvenile Center in Bronx, NY and Aspira Agency in Newark, NJ as a counselor. She also worked with Trend Community Mental Health Services in Hendersonville, NC teaching life skills and Lakewood Manor. Geraldine was a life long learner always seeking opportunities to stay engaged in learning and development.


She is survived by a brother-in-law, Raymond Floyd, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 1 o'clock at Moody Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC. Pastor David Suber will be officiating.
