Dennis Owen Fisher, age 65, of Pisgah Forest, passed away unexpectedly at home, May 1, 2018.
A native of Transylvania county, he was born August 29, 1952 to the late Cecil and Lela Mae Breedlove Fisher.
Dennis worked as a carpenter early in life and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier. He was well known for his BBQ and helping those who needed it. He was a man born in the wrong era, he loved farming and the ways of the past! From his Red Poll Cattle, speckled butter beans and old timey red and white corn from which he made his own cornmeal. He had never met a stranger and loved the history of his family and the mountains he called home. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all! But by nobody more than his family! He was so proud of "his girls" and loved them dearly!
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hartnup Fisher of 44 years of marriage and 48 years of love, daughter, Carolyne Wilbanks, and husband Derek, of Pisgah Forest and their daughters, Shade, Gracen, Trinity and Madalynn, son, Caleb Fisher of Sapphire and his daughter, Kyndall, brothers, Bramley Fisher and his wife Gail, Carlos Fisher and his wife Mary, sisters, Sharon Hall, Renee Avirett and Michelle Fisher and her husband John Shallenburg and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 482, Lake Toxaway, NC 28747.
